Ravana Challenge opens and closes in Big Bang fashion!

Last September 14, The The Ravana International, the first grand Master Chess tournament of Sri Lanka started in a big bang at the Ceylon Continental Hotel. Tournament top seed GM Mchedlishvili Mikheil leads a strong field of chess combatants of 12 Grand masters, 1 women Grand master, 4 International Masters.

According to FIDE website ,A total of 75 players are playing in this event which was inagurated with Mr. Upali Gunasekera, Principal Royal College, the Vice President of CFSL as the Chief Guest. Mr. Duminda Rathnayake, CEO, TEGO, the Main Sponsor, Mr. R Anantharam, Chief Arbiter, Mr. Muditha Hettigama, the Chief Organizer and Mr. Malinda Seneviratne, the President, Blue and Gold chess Club was there at the Ceremony.

The tournament was just done with its penultimate round and standings is still pretty close with GM Georgiev Vladimir at the helm with 6.5 points.Goergiev was followed by six 6 pointers namely GM Mikehil, GM ElshaN, GM Anton,GM Anuar, GM Merab, GM Vadim.
