Mikheil Mchedlishvili wins Ravana Challenge Chess

Georgian Mikheil Mchedlishvili lived up to his lofty billing as he overstepped Vladimir Georgiev of Macedonia in the tie-breaks after both grandmasters ended with 7.5 points at the end of the 10th and final round of the Ravana Challenge Chess Championship that concluded September 19, 2009 at the Ceylon Continental Hotel.

Draws marred the top 3 boards GM Mchedlishvili Mikheil vs GM Shabalov Alexander,GM Georgiev Vladimir vs GM Gagunashvili Merab , and GM Filippov Anton vs IM Saptarshi Roy during the final round.

The tournament, organized by the Blue and Gold Chess Club, with the support of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka, with TIGO as the principle sponsor. Our congratulations for Mikheil for a job well done!!!.
